If you need to contact me at school or home my e-mail address is firstathcs@yahoo.com

PRINTING- keep watching their letters. They will write everything correctly for a while and then begin making up their own methods.

RELIGION- we read about St Cecilia, St Elizabeth of Hungary, St. Rose Philippine Duchesne, the Presentation of Mary, and Christ the King Sunday (this Sunday).

WEATHER- it is getting colder and I have children coming to school without heavy coats. You may send layers so they can remove articles of clothing if necessary but they can't put things on that aren't here. Thanks, I just want to make sure everyone is warm enough because we do go out when it's in the 30's.

UNIFORMS- please re-read the clothes guidelines for the little ones. I have several who are wearing items that are only for the older kids or things that are not approved colors. Sorry to be a stickler on the subject but either all follow or we don't have uniforms. It can't be both ways.

************************************************

MATH-  we have been working on different ways to graph data and then read it to find range, median and mode.

Keep practicing the addition facts because they tend to put them out of their minds when starting subtraction.

**********************************************

PHONICS- we are now working on words with the double s endings. We will also practice words using double f and z.

READING COUNTS- make sure you and your child have read their library books and send them back by Thursday for tests. If they have a really long book they may borrow one of my books.

READING- please have your child read their stories 3 times, especially if they are not reading smoothly.

GINGERBREAD HOUSES- we will be making houses with our buddies on December 1st. I wanted to give you a heads up so you could quietly eliminate some of your Halloween candy stash if there's any left. Little round candy like Skittles, peppermint disc shaped, short Tootsie roll shapes, and gumdrops work well for this project. I will have things to use but anyone can bring in extras if they want to do so.

SOCIAL STUDIES- we have been learning about the Pilgrims and the Indians who helped them survive in the new world.
