Text Box: The students have been involved in a variety of projects since the 2007-2008 school year began.  Here are some of the projects they’ve had so far: Þ A couple of keyboarding projects which limited the number of words they could use while identifying parts of speech . Þ A creative drawing project incorporating Paint, WordArt and ClipArt to create technology comics. Þ Using Microsoft Office Word as an alternate drawing tool to create a blueprint of their rooms at home. Þ Developing Tables and Spreadsheets to display information in a variety of ways. Þ Creating and managing a computer checkbook. Þ Creating a small business and determining the profits for one year based on individual factors. Þ Learning the best and fastest ways to do internet searches for accurate information.

Text Box: We also started off the school year by looking at internet safety and how to recognize and take care of potential problems before they get started.  A very good website that offers information for parents and children is:   www.NetSmartz.org   This website gives specific rules for online safety and what to do when feeling threatened or uncomfortable while dealing with others on the internet.  If you haven’t been to this website, take a few minutes and check it out.  You should find the videos, articles, and games insightful and something that you and your children can do together.
